In 1834, Gilles Hendrikse is the ‘logementhouder’, running the ‘inn’ that is based in the ‘Campveerse Toren‘ at that time. It must have looked something like this:
The ‘Toren’ is still a hotel today, although my family, descendant from Gilles Hendrikse moved to IJzendijke where they became the local mayor, the bank and the cigar/tobacco retail store.
The family history in Veere can still be traced in our family shield where the ‘staircase’ shape is based on the facade of the Campveerse Toren.
